The Clean Energy Business Council (CEBC) is a non-government, non-profit member organization of leading local, regional, and international organizations operating in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) clean energy sector. Founded in 2012, the CEBC offers corporates, startups, SMEs, and the public sector with an inclusive forum for idea sharing and best practice promotion in the area of clean energy. It plays an important role in assisting in deepening the sector’s maturity and in the development of regulatory and policy frameworks.

Members are drawn from amongst the industry’s key players, including financiers, project developers, and service providers. The CEBC fosters constructive dialogue and collective action by providing a forum for stakeholders from the private and government sectors to exchange ideas, share information, and coordinate efforts to develop regulatory and policy frameworks, technologies, and standards, with the aim of encouraging investment to stimulate the growth and maturity of climate innovations in the Middle East and North Africa.

By developing strategic alliances with research institutions, international associations, media, intergovernmental organizations, and government entities, we work collaboratively to drive the delivery of clean energy solutions for the MENA region and coordinate and disseminate data and information to ensure relevant benchmarking and transparency in the sectors’ development.

In March 2016, the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) was officially launched in Beijing, with the purpose of promoting the establishment of Global Energy Interconnection (GEI) to meet global power demand with clean and green alternatives. The Chairman of GEIDCO is Mr. Baoan XIN, who is the current President of State Grid Corporation of China, and President of China Electricity Council.

GEIDCO has 1,302 members from 141 countries, covering such sectors as energy, power, transportation, information, finance, technology, meteorology, and environmental protection. GEIDCO has 6 departments (Administration Bureau, General Office, Operating Bureau, Development Bureau, Cooperation Bureau, and Resources Management Bureau), 2 subordinate institutions (Economic & Technology Research Institute, and News & Media Center), 7 regional offices (for Africa, West Asia-North Africa, Europe, Eastern Europe-Central Asia, Southeast Asia-South Asia, Central and South America, and North America), 65 national representative offices and 20 national committees. GEIDCO has also set up the Advisory (Consultant) Board and the Technical (Academic) Committee.

GEIDCO currently has 241 employees, with more than half holding doctoral degrees and more than 60% having overseas study and working experience. Their professional fields cover energy and power, social sciences and humanities, economic administration and international relations.

GEIDCO has published both Chinese and English versions of the Journal of Global Energy Interconnection, offering a platform for academic innovation and sharing of achievements. An operation analysis center and a themed exhibition hall for Global Energy Interconnection (GEI) are also established to serve as an important venue for exchange and display of the latest progress and innovation.

Over the past seven years, GEIDCO’s pioneering work in various fields has guaranteed fruitful outcomes in GEI development.

The global stocktake of the Paris Agreement presents a pivotal point in the COP process, and vital moment for the renewables sector to speak with one voice. COP28 represents the last major chance to get the world back on track and hold nations account for delivering on their environmental targets.

The Hydrogen Council is a global CEO-led initiative that brings together leading companies with a united vision and long-term ambition for hydrogen to foster the clean energy transition.

Using its global reach to promote collaboration between governments, industry and investors, the Council provides guidance on accelerating the deployment of hydrogen solutions around the world. It also acts as a business marketplace, bringing together a diverse group of 140+ companies based in 20+ countries across the entire hydrogen value chain, including large multinationals, innovative SMEs, and investors.

The Hydrogen Council also serves as a resource for safety standards and an interlocutor for the investment community, while identifying opportunities for regulatory advocacy in key geographies.

The Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN) was created in 2011 under the initiative of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Environment and several public and private actors of the energy sector in order to support the Moroccan energy strategy through market-oriented applied research and innovation in the field of green technologies. IRESEN is today an effective arm of the State to support the national energy strategy and is positioned on the entire value chain of green innovation, through financial support, human and technical assistance to researchers, PhD students, entrepreneurs (startups, SMEs and industrialists) throughout the entire process of project development: identification of needs, design, R&D, demonstration, incubation until the marketing of innovative products, processes and services.

The LDES Council is a global non-profit organization with over 60 members in 20 countries. The Council works to accelerate the decarbonization of our world through the acceleration of long-duration energy storage. It provides member-driven, fact-based guidance and research to governments, grid operators and major electricity users on the deployment of long-duration energy storage for society’s benefit.

An executive-led organization, the LDES Council spans a wide range of energy storage technologies and includes among its members technology innovators, energy users and investors. The Council publishes findings and reports to encourage the wide adoption of long duration energy storage to replace the use of fossil fuels and accelerate carbon neutrality.

MENA Energy Storage Alliance is a membership based consortium formed to support the region in its decarbonization initiatives. It encourages cooperation and participation among its members that are utilities, policy makers, technology companies and investors to adopt emerging technologies such as Energy Storage, Renewables, Hydrogen, e-Mobility to achieve their net-zero goals.

By bringing the key stakeholders on a common platform, we intend to create awareness, faster adoption and implementation of the decarbonization efforts.

Oman Hydrogen Centre (OHC) at German University of Technology in Oma n(GUtech) was active since May 2022, and it is the first research Centre of its kind in Sultanate of Oman and supporting the key partners in accelerating their transition towards renewable energy. OHC aims to play the main role in shifting from fossil energy sources to renewable sources such as solar and wind with green hydrogen as the energy carrier and clean industrial base material of the future economy. Centre current activities are aligned with Oman Vision 2040. Additionally, it works to develop competencies in the field of a hydrogen-based economy in cooperation with local and international parties and align activities between industry, academics, government, and society.

The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) is an intergovernmental organization with diplomatic status that aims to enable and increase the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency practices across pan-Arab countries. RCREEE is the official technical arm institution of both League of Arab State – Energy Department and Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity (AMCE).

World Hydrogen Leaders was launched in 2020 by green energy veteran Green Power Global, as the go-to knowledge & networking resource for the entire hydrogen value chain. World Hydrogen Leaders’ platform is a professional online market-place delivering leading hydrogen content and networking all year round. Through 50+ training courses, 10 in-person conferences, monthly industry reports, news analysis, expert interviews and more, the 1000+ members from across the globe can network and learn about the latest projects, policies and important stakeholders, to create in-roads to project opportunities.
